Wat Phra That Pong Nok is located in Tambon Dan Makham Tia, Amphoe Dan Makham Tia, Kanchanaburi Province. The temple is situated amidst the natural beauty, surrounded by lush bamboo forests, with a prominent view of the sacred Phra That Pong Nok stupa on the hill. Within the temple grounds, there is the Grand Pagoda named “Phra Chulamani Sri Maha Thath,” serving as the central focus. The pagoda houses a sacred Buddha relic, a replica of the original one obtained from Wat Phra That Doi Tung, and it is revered for blessings and ceremonies.

The history of Wat Phra That Pong Nok dates back to ancient times, situated on a prominent hill that separates the Thai-Myanmar border. The landscape around the temple becomes especially enchanting from October to January when the lotus ponds bloom, adding to the picturesque scenery. The temple area is also rich in historical significance, and within the temple, there is a revered earth mound shrine built in the 9th reign, representing the central region and housed within the Phra Ubosot.
Wat Phra That Pong Nok Thai Buddhist Heritage
On the mountaintop, there is a stupa called “Phra Chulamani Sri Maha Thath,” housing a beautiful white jade Buddha image as the principal deity. The base of the stupa also contains a portion of the sacred Buddha relic, while another part is enshrined on the pinnacle of the pagoda. Additionally, there are carvings of the paired Buddha footprints on white marble, depicting the sun, moon, and auspicious symbols, which are believed to be around 1,100 years old.
The origin of the Grand Earth Mound Shrine
Wat Phra That Pong Nok received the royal patronage from His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, providing the resources to construct the Grand Earth Mound Shrine, which serves as the ninth sacred site in the 9th reign. It represents the central region and is home to the revered Buddha image, Luang Pho Seua Thi, created with exquisite white jade.

The paired Buddha footprints were discovered by the former abbot, Luang Pho Man Ming Mok Yoke, on Pong Nok Mountain. They were then respectfully brought to be enshrined at the temple.

ตั้งอยู่ที่ ต.ด่านมะขามเตี้ย อ.ด่านมะขามเตี้ย จ.กาญจนบุรี วัดอยู่ท่ามกลางธรรมชาติที่โอบล้อมด้วยความร่มรื่นของแมกไม้แลเห็นพระสถูปเจดีย์พรมหาจุฬามณีศรีมหาธาตุที่ตั้งอยู่บนเขา ภายในบรรจุพระบรมสารีริกธาตุ ที่ได้มาจากหลวงพ่อใหญ่วัดพระธาตุดอยตุง กราบสักการะขอพระพระพุทธเจ้าทันใจพระมหามงคลหยกขาว และรอยพระพุทธบาทคู่ ที่เจ้าอาวาสเดิมธุดงค์พบบนเขาโป่งนก แล้วอัญเชิญมาประดิษฐานที่วัดนี้ ทุกปีทางวัดจะมีประเพณีลอยโคมลอยเคราะห์ และลอยกระทงปล่อยดวงประทีปสะเดาะเหคราห์ที่ยิ่งใหญ่งดงาม ท่ามกลางขุนเขาและป่าไม้นานาพันธุ์
ประวัติความเป็นมาของ วัดพระธาตุโป่งนก
วัดพระธาตุโป่งนกตั้งอยู่บนเขาโดดเด่นโอบรอบด้วยเทือกเขาตะนาวศรีซึ่งกั้นเขตแดนไทย-พม่า สภาพภูมิทัศน์บริเวณวัดในช่วงเดือนตุลาคม-มกราคม จะมีทุ่งบัวตองออกดอกบานสะพรั่งสวยงาม พื้นที่ใกล้เคียงเป็นแหล่งธรรมโบราณและภายในวัดมีพระอุโบสถดินซึ่งสร้างเป็นหลังที่ 9 ในรัชการที่ 9 หนึ่งใน 4 ภาคของประเทศและเป็นตัวแทนของภาคกลางและภายในศาลาประทุมรัตน์ มีพระพุทธรัตนมหาเศรษฐี (หลวงพ่อเศรษฐี) ซึ่งสร้างด้วยพลอยขาวสวยงาม
บนยอดเขาวัดพระธาตุโป่งนกมีพระเจดีย์ทรงระฆังคว่ำชื่อว่า “พระจุฬามณีศรีมหาธาตุ” ภายในประดิษฐานพระพุทธมหามิ่งมงคลหยกขาวเป็นประธาน ตรงกลางพระจุฬามณีศรีมหาธาตุมีมณฑปแกะสลักด้วยไม้สักทองลงรักปิดทองเป็นที่ประดิษฐานพระบรมสารีริกธาตุส่วนหนึ่ง อีกส่วนหนึ่งอยู่บนเพดานพระจุฬามณีศรีมหาธาตุและบนปล้องไฉนของยอดเจดีย์ นอกจากนี้มีรอยพระพุทธบาทคู่แกะสลักจากหินลายมงคล ตรงกลางพระบาทเป็นรูปพระอาทิตย์ พระจันทร์และมีเครื่องหมายสวัสดิกะลายปางมงคลคู่ซึ่งยังไม่เคยพบเห็นที่ไหนมาก่อนสันนิษฐานว่ามีอายุประมาณ 1,100 ปี

วัดพระธาตุโป่งนกได้รับพระราชทานจากสมเด็จพระสังฆราช สกลมหาสังฆปริณายก ให้สร้างอุโลสถดิน เป็นหลังที่ 9 ในรัชกาล 9 หนึ่งใน 4 ภาคของประเทศและเป็นตัวแทนของภาคกลางและภายในศาลาประทุมรัตน์มีพระพุทธรัตนมหาเศรษฐี (หลวงพ่อเศรษฐี) ซึ่งสร้างด้วยพลอยขาวสวยงาม
