Wat Rong Khun, Chiang Rai Province

The renowned Wat Rong Khun, also known as the White Temple, is a temple located in Chiang Rai Province. It is among the top 10 most beautiful temples in the world. The temple was designed and constructed by artist Chalermchai Kositpipat to create a unique Buddhist art masterpiece and proclaim greatness to the world in dedication to His Majesty the King. It has gained international recognition and is often referred to as the “White Temple.” The construction of this magnificent Buddhist artwork had no set timeframe and relied on the dedication of Chalermchai’s disciples and public contributions.

Upon entering the white temple building, photography is prohibited. Inside, you will find exquisite mural paintings and gold-toned wall paintings, including an image of the Marvel superhero, unsure of its exact meaning. Each painting is beautifully crafted with intricate details. According to the book “Creating Temples for Earth,” which is available for sale at the White Temple, Chalermchai prepared two generations of disciples to continue the construction when he is no longer able to. The second generation is currently 24 years old, and the third generation is 16 years old, indicating that the construction will continue for a long time.
